The Akari Chargers outshined the Nxled Chameleons in four sets, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-18, to remain unbeaten in the PVL 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena, Thursday night.

Akari clinched their seventh consecutive victory in two hours and four minutes of play.

Team captain Michelle Cobb stepped up in Kamille Cal’s absence as she earned Player of the Game honors with 18 excellent sets and nine points including four aces.

Oly Okaro went business as usual, scoring 30 points built from 28 attacks, one block, and one ace while Ivy Lacsina added 19 points.

In the fourth set, the Chargers established a 22-14 lead, not looking back to put the Chameleons away for good.

After a slow start in the opening frame, the Chargers found its rhythm in the second set and continued to ride the momentum in the third as Okaro, Lacsina, and Grethcel Soltones took turns in pinushing Nxled’s defense.

Nxled’s import, Meegan Hart, delivered 16 points composed of 11 attacks and five blocks, while Chiara Permentilla chipped in 11 points.

The Chameleons slid down to a 1-6 record and will end the second round of preliminaries against the Cignal HD Spikers.

On the other hand, the Chargers look to stretch their unbeaten run to eight against the Farm Fresh Foxies.

Both games will be held on August 20, Tuesday at the same venue.
