The Nxled Chameleons suffered their fifth consecutive defeat at the hands of the rising Capital1 Solar Spikers, with a score of 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 19-25, 6-15, in the PVL 2024 Reinforced Conference last Saturday.

Nxled saw its 2-0 lead in the match vanish as the Capital Solar Spikers relied on Marina Tushova’s record-breaking 49 points in the 2-hour and 10-minute match.

Jhoana Maraguinot played her best game this conference, scoring 19 points and tallied 15 excellent receptions. Chiara Permentilla chipped in 15 points and 15 excellent receptions, while Meegan Hart added 13 points, including three blocks.

The Chameleons could not regain their bearings in the deciding set after the Solar Spikers fought back in the third and fourth sets. The Chameleons were trailing 3-10 in the fifth set and eventually ran out of gas for a comeback.

Nxled played like a well-oiled machine in the first two sets, but Tushova injected some life back into Capital1 as they capitalized on the momentum to pull off a reverse sweep.

Coach Chen Gang and his squad will aim to arrest their five-game skid against their sister team, the league-leading Akari Chargers, on Thursday, August 15 at the same venue.
