THE Philippines cruised to its second straight victory in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers with an 83-53 dismantling of Singapore on Wednesday night at the STI West Negros University Gym in Bacolod.
The Akari-backed young Gilas women followed their dominant 93-42 win over Vietnam to seize the solo lead in the five-nation tournament.
Tiffany Reyes led the way for the Philippines with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, seven rebounds, and four steals. On the other hand, Sophia Dignadice added 16 points, including two triples, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals without a turnover.
Zaydhen Rosano contributed nine points, Riri Perez chipped in seven, while Brianna Katigbak and Lea Pinuela each scored six.
The Gilas U18 women are already qualified for the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup-Division A, which will be held in Seremban, Malaysia, from October 4 to 10. They are using SEABA qualifiers to toughen the squad.
The Gilas U18 squad played Thailand on Thursday night. After a Friday off, the hosts will wrap things up against Indonesia on Saturday.
