In this article, we are taking a look back at how the San Marcelino Squad fared seven games into the season.

The Adamson University Lady Falcons ended the first round of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament with a 2-5 record.

Adamson started its Season 86 campaign against the defending champions, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers. The Lady Falcons struggled to penetrate the Lady Spikers’ net defense, resulting in a three-set loss to their opponents.

In their next game, however, the San Marcelino squad regrouped and secured a victory by sweeping the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons. May Ann Nuique, Ishie Lalongisip, and Antonette Adolfo scored in double digits to propel Adamson to its first victory.

With momentum on their side, the Lady Falcons looked to stun the National University Lady Bulldogs next. Adamson brought the fight, but it was not enough against the streaking Jhocson-based team, suffering its second loss at the hands of the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Falcons quickly bounced back from another loss with a thrilling four-set win against the University of the East Lady Warriors, improving their record to 2-2.

After a rollercoaster ride in their first four matches, mishaps began to strike Adamson as it endured a string of losses to Far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University, and University of Santo Tomas.

The Adamsonians had no answers for FEU as they fell flat, dropping to a 2-3 record. The Lady Falcons then suffered a stunning defeat against the Blue Eagles.

Yet, that did not stop Adamson from bringing the fight in their first-round match against UST. Lalongisip once again shined for the Lady Falcons, while Lucille Almonte played her best game so far, scoring 14 and 12 points respectively.

AdU put up a gallant stand against UST, with the match extending to a fourth set. The Lady Falcons were well on their way to forcing a fifth set, but the Golden Tigresses held on and overcame a three-set-point disadvantage to end the match in four sets.

The first round might have been underwhelming for Adamson’s supporters, but they cannot deny that the team has the potential to perform better in the second round.

In the next round, the Lady Falcons will need their community to come to the arena and support them. Unawakanahimo!
