The Akari Chargers fell to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in straight sets, 23-25, 21-25, 19-25, the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena, Saturday.
Akari main gunners Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Faith Nisperos had subpar performances with only 12 and 10 points, respectively.
On the other hand, Isa Molde and Maddie Madayag scored 13 points apiece, while Sisi Rondina and Kat Tolentino added 11 each.
Trailing by six point midway through the opening set, the Chargers cut the deficit to two but the Flying Titans held on
In the second frame, Akari played catch-up with Choco Mucho before the latter pulled away late to secure the set; and the Flying Titans didn’t look back since.
Choco Mucho started strong in the third set, and once again pounded on the Chargers to take home the victory.
Despite the loss, Justine Jazareno had her best outing in an Akari uniform with 15 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions.
For Choco Mucho, the all-around contribution came from Deanna Wong’s outstanding playmaking as she dished out 16 excellent sets.
The Chargers were dealt their second comsecutive loss of the season and now holds a 3-3 record. On Tuesday at 4pm, they will face sister team Nxled Chameleons at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
