BARBIE JAMILI FINDS NEW HOME IN ADAMSON

Following an announcement made on Friday that Barbie Jamili is Akari’s newest brand ambassador, the spiker, over the weekend, made it official that she will be joining the Adamson Lady Falcons in the UAAP.

Jamili’s move to the Falcons’ nest follows her recent switch from the high school team of National University to a short stint with the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

Welcoming her to the fold Saturday at the San Marcelino campus were Lady Falcons head coach Jerry Yee and Akari Sports Director Russel Balbacal.

According to Yee, if things go as planned, Jamili could see action in the UAAP as early as 2024.

With no one in the current roster graduating after Season 85, Yee expects a tight race to fill up the 14-woman lineup for next year.

“Barbie will contribute as an RS, meaning receiver/spiker,” he said.

Talking about his loaded pool of wing spikers, he adds: “It’s always a battle of who can receive the ball and contribute sa spikes better.”

On Akari’s end, Balbacal shared that this partnership is in line with the brand’s goal of helping talented athletes achieve their full potential for a brighter future for themselves and the sport as a whole.

“We’ve been helping young players for years now. From volleyball clinics to bringing pocket tournaments closer to the youth in different parts of the country, Akari’s mission has always been to be of assistance to promising talents as they fulfill their dreams,” the Sports Director said.

“Barbie joining Akari as ambassador and now as a Lady Falcon just goes to show our commitment to give chances to talented young athletes,” he added.

Jamili will be joining team captain Louie Romero, and seniors Rizza Cruz and Lorene Toring among others in the Akari-backed Adamson women’s volleyball team.
