UST’s Camille Victoria makes pro jump to Akari By Josiah Albelda Camille Victoria is taking on a new and unprecedented challenge.

Long touted for her height and potential, the former University of Santo Tomas starter turned professional and will make her debut for the Akari Chargers in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League.

Victoria, a 6’1-footer who spent much of her collegiate career as a wing spiker, will shore up the Chargers’ middle blocker position, where she is expected to man the wall for Akari with fellow young guns Krich Macaslang and Ezra Madrigal.

The Quezon City native was one of UST’s top weapons in UAAP Season 84, but found it hard to find consistency on both ends as she was switched from the open and opposite sides several times throughout the tournament.

At Akari, she will be entrusted by coach Jorge de Brito to address one of the Chargers’ major needs: blocking.

With her height and skills, Victoria is expected to make a seamless transition to the middle.

“We believe Cams is a great addition to the team,” said Akari Sports director Russell Balbacal. “She has a lot of potential and I believe our coaching staff is well-equipped to bring out the best in her.”
