Falcons Fly Home to Akari Nest

Ex-Adamson aces Bang Pineda, Eli Soyud join Akari Chargers

By Akari

Akari continues to build its nest with true-blue Adamsonians.

After a solid debut in the professional ranks, the PVL’s newest team wasted no time in strengthening its roster after the acquisition of former Lady Falcons in Bang Pineda and Eli Soyud.

Pineda, a libero who anchored the defense of Reinforced Conference champions Petro Gazz, makes her move to the magenta side and will now man the floor alongside holdovers Rachel Jorvina and Dani Ravena.

Once the star scorer of Adamson, the petite but high-flying Pineda has successfully made the transition into a defensive specialist and she has shone bright not just for the Angels, but also for teams like Choco Mucho, Sta. Lucia and Petron.

Meanwhile, Soyud brings height and experience to the opposite side for coach Jorge De Brito.

A one-time UAAP champion with De La Salle, the 5-foot-11 spiker crossed Taft to move to San Marcelino and was a vital piece for the Lady Falcons for a couple of seasons.

After wrapping up her collegiate career, Soyud had stints with Generika, Sta. Lucia, and Motolite before coming to terms with PLDT, where she has played for the past two seasons.

“As a long-time supporter of the Adamson volleyball program, we are happy to sign both Bang and Eli to the Chargers,” said Akari Sports director Russell Balbacal.

“It just goes to show the alagang Akari. We take care of our Lady Falcons, and if the opportunity arises, we will definitely have more of them in the lineup in the future.”

Pineda and Soyud will be among the new faces as Akari returns to action in the PVL this February.
