Bacolod Tay Tung captures Akari Cup Bacolod Leg Title

BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod Tay Tung emerged as the champion of the Akari Cup after defeating La Salle-Zobel on Friday at the St. John’s Institute here.

The Thunderbolts’ A-team completed an unbeaten run, winning all five of its matches in the three-day tournament that featured 20 teams from across the country.

Prime Volleyball Club secured third place to complete the podium finishers.

Mary Regine Wong Yan of Bacolod Tay Tung was named the Most Valuable Player.

More than just a competition, the event served as a celebration of sportsmanship and grassroots volleyball development. Beyond the results, the tournament became a platform for learning, growth, and meaningful competition for young athletes.

The participating teams displayed energy, passion, and skill throughout the tournament, highlighting the continued growth of grassroots volleyball and the promise of future stars in the sport.

The awards were presented by Dzi Gervacio, Akari Cup Program Director; Nicole Tiamzon, Akari Cup Technical Director and President of Spike and Serve Philippines Inc.; Shannen Palec, Vice President of Spike and Serve Philippines Inc.; AJ Perartilla, Head of Media of Akari Sports; Ericka Jane Moleje, Head Coordinator of Akari Cup; and Coach Ralph Savellano of the Akari Cup Bacolod Organizing Committee.

The Akari Cup in Bacolod reflected the shared vision of Akari Sports, Spike and Serve Philippines Inc., and Nxled to strengthen grassroots volleyball by bringing high-level competition and professional standards to local communities.

The event was made possible through the support of Akari Lighting, Nxled, Spike and Serve Philippines Inc., St. John’s Institute, Mizuno/MZ Sports, Nature’s Spring, Mangkas Apparel, and Sugba Sugba.
