The De La Salle Lady Booters capped off the first round of the UAAP Season 88 Women’s Football Tournament with a solid 3–1 record, placing second in the standings behind defending champion FEU after a strong opening stretch.

La Salle began their campaign on a winning note, edging out archrival Ateneo de Manila University, 1–0, on September 20. Center back Elisha Lubiano delivered the match’s lone goal with a sharp header off a Jodie Banzon corner in the 51st minute to secure the Lady Booters’ first victory of the season.

They continued their fine form in a 2–1 win over the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, with Banzon and Dani Tanjangco striking early to give La Salle control of the match. Despite a late push from UST, the Taft-based squad held on to notch back-to-back wins.

The Lady Booters then kept their slate clean with a composed 2–0 triumph over the UP Fighting Maroons on September 27. Tanjangco opened the scoring just before halftime and forced an own goal later in the match to secure La Salle’s third straight victory.

However, their unbeaten streak ended on October 4 against the FEU Lady Tamaraws, who rallied from a goal down to hand La Salle a 2–1 defeat. Althea Alforque put the Lady Booters ahead in the first half, but FEU capitalized on a penalty and a late conversion to stay atop the table.

Despite the tough loss, La Salle’s strong 3–1 record and consistent performances highlighted their growth and resilience in the opening round. Anchored by Lubiano’s leadership at the back, Banzon’s playmaking, and Tanjangco’s scoring touch, the Lady Booters remain well within reach of the top spot.

As the second round kicks off, the Lady Booters aim to maintain their momentum and close the gap with FEU, keeping their championship hopes alive in Season 88.
