In September, the Nxled Chameleons brought in Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti to steer the ship starting this upcoming PVL 2024-2025 All-Filipino Conference.

Since then, the Italian mentor has received a warm and positive response from his players, who have shown a high level of commitment to his system.

“The commitment is super high. They started from the very beginning to be open-minded to my system,” he marveled.

When he joined the team, Guidetti assessed his team’s strengths and weaknesses, highlighting service, passing, and out-of-system play as key areas for improvement.

“I started taking in information during the break, so I planned to start with our serve and pass, and then try to focus on the out-of-system situation [because] that looks like the one that has been affecting the game a little bit,” Guidetti said, “I think that the girls, in-system, play good volleyball, so we are trying to improve our out-of-system [plays],” he added.

When asked about his system, Guidetti shared that he tries to adopt the ‘methodology of the other coaches before me,’ and that it is ‘part of what we are as Italians’—not fixing what is not broken while capitalizing on what is working.

“We love to collect the best methodologies, and maybe try to use a little bit of Italian style in our work,” he said.

For the Chameleons to have a better showing in the upcoming All-Filipino Conference, Guidetti wants his squad to be brave, humble, and willing to improve every game.

“Obviously, our goal is to be better compared to the last conference, but we also know that a lot of teams improved their line-up, so, realistically, we have to face the championship in a brave and courageous way. At the same time, adding the knowledge that we are not one of the super best teams in the league, so we need to approach every single game with a lot of humility and willingness to be better every single match.”

The Nxled Chameleons will start their PVL 2024-2025 All-Filipino Conference campaign against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Tuesday, November 12 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City at 4 p.m.
