The Adamson University Lady Baby Falcons fell short against the National University Nazareth School Lady Bullpups in five nail-biting sets, 25-16, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 13-15, in the first round of the UAAP Season 87 High School Volleyball Tournament Girls’ Division at the Paco Arena in Manila earlier today.
The defending champions from San Marcelino suffered their second loss, dropping to a 2-2 record.
Trailing by three in the fifth set, 6-9, the Lady Baby Falcons continued to fight back, narrowing the Lady Bullpups’ lead to just one on two occasions. However, NUNS dashed the hopes of Adamson when Jenelyn Jacob drilled in a quick attack to secure the Sampaloc-based squad’s victory.
Adamson failed to ride on momentum after a pulsating win in the fourth frame where Sam Cantada and Ella Gonzalvo led the charge for the Lady Baby Falcons.
NUNS, on the other hand, bucked an opening-set loss and turned the tide as the Lady Bullpups showed composure throughout the match.
Adamson will aim to return to the winning column when they clash with the FEU Diliman Baby Tamaraws on Sunday, October 6 at the same venue at 1 p.m.
