The Akari Chargers remained undefeated in Pool B of the PVL 2024 Reinforced Conference, sweeping the winless ZUS Coffee Thuderbelles, 25-18, 25-15, 25-23,  at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Thursday night.

The Chargers claimed their fourth victory in as many outings in the 1-hour and 23-minute match.

Oly Okaro paced Akari with 14 points built on 13 attacks and one block. Ivy Lacsina and Grethcel Soltones added 13 and 12 points, respectively, while setter Kamille Cal fanned out 17 excellent sets.

Leading by just one late in the deciding set, 23-22, the Chargers fended off a gallant stand from the Thunderbelles as Cams Victoria and Okaro delivered the last two points to secure the win.

Akari built a 10-point lead in the first two sets and never looked back after establishing a commanding 2-0 advantage in the match.

ZUS Coffee’s Japanese import Asaka Tamaru was limited to eight points, while Michelle Gamit, Gayle Pascual, and Sharya Ancheta each had five points.

The Chargers look to clinch solo first in Pool B with a win against another undefeated team, the Cignal HD Spikers, on Tuesday, August 6 at the same venue at 1 p.m.
