Last Saturday, Ivy Lacsina wrapped up her first conference as a Nxled Chameleon with a new career high of 28 points against the Petro Gazz Angels.

Although falling short of her goal to help Nxled reach the semifinals, Lacsina credited her coaches for her stellar performance and growth in the All-Filipino tournament.

“Siyempre happy ako na kahit papaano nakikita ko ‘yung sarili ko na part ako ng Nxled and turo din naman yan nila Coach Taka and ng ibang coaches kaya mas nalalabas ko kung sino talaga ako and kung paano pa ‘ko pwedeng maglaro,” Lacsina said.

Looking back, the 6’1 open spiker had a slow start to the conference. She played in limited minutes due to a knee injury, but her coaches and teammates remained patient until she fully recovered.

“Sobrang thankful ‘ko sa mga coaches and teammates ko kasi hinintay talaga nila ‘kong makarecover. Hindi nila ‘ko minadali nung time na sobrang down ko talaga and siyempre masaya ako na nakasama ko sila agad and nakarecover ako agad.”

And Lacsina was worth the wait.

In 11 games this conference, the former National University star scored a total of 152 points and ranked sixth in scoring, eighth in spiking and ninth in serving after the eliminations.

As incredible as she was at this conference, Lacsina looks forward to making another stride with the team.

“Alam ko na mas malaki pa ‘yung ii-improve ko and ng buong Nxled sa padating na next conference kaya lagi naman naming sinasabi na ‘one step at a time’ so every conference meron kaming natututunan and mas madadala pa namin yon sa next conference and makukuha din namin yung goal namin,” Lacsina said.

The Chameleons might have had a premature end to their conference, but for Lacsina, this is just the beginning.

“Siyempre masaya ako na nakasama ko ‘yung Nxled and dumating kami sa point na ‘to kasi alam ko na mas dito kami titibay and mas natututo kami so ang pinakapoint naman din nun is mas nakikilala namin yung isa’t isa kaya itong first conference kong kasama sila is itetreasure ko kasi dito ako nagsimula and dito kami magsisimula paangat.”
