The Akari Chargers suffered a three-set defeat at the hands of the streaking Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 17-25, 20-25, 17-25, in the PVL 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna last Saturday.
Akari slipped out of semifinal contention after losing six games in ten outings.
Ezra Madrigal led Akari in scoring with 10 points in seven attacks and three blocks, while Erika Raagas and Fifi Sharma chipped in eight and six markers, respectively.
Grethcel Soltones only had three points, but made up for the lack in scoring on the defensive end with 15 excellent receptions.
On the other hand, Eya Laure dropped 14 points composed of nine attacks, three blocks, and two aces. Ara Galang contributed seven attack points including two blocks, while four other Crossovers in Aby Marano, Myleen Paat, EJ Laure, and Cza Carandang tallied seven markers each.
The Chargers will try to close out their All-Filipino campaign on a winning note as they face Strong Group Athletics on April 27, Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City at 2 p.m.
