PASIG CITY — The Nxled Chameleons’ two-game winning streak came to an end as they came up short against the Creamline Cool Smashers in straight sets, 22-25, 12-25, 20-25, in the PVL 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena last Saturday.

Ivy Lacsina was the lone Chameleon who barged into double digits in scoring with 10 points built from six attacks, three aces, and one block. Cams Victoria and Jhoana Maraguinot each added eight points, while Lycha Ebon contributed seven markers.

On the other hand, Tots Carlos spearheaded the Cool Smashers’ attack with 18 points including 14 attacks and four aces. Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza chipped in 12 and 10 markers, respectively.

Nxled traded blows with Creamline in the opening set as the latter stayed within shouting distance late, 22-24, before Kamille Cal committed a double-contact violation to end the first.

The Chameleons struggled to recover in the second frame with the Cool Smashers riding on their momentum to establish a 22-12 lead. Consequently, they won the set, securing a commanding 2-0 advantage in the match.

With its back against the wall, Nxled had to give its best shot in the third canto as it was leading midway through, 16-15. However, Creamline showed poise and turned things around to sweep the former.

With the loss, the Chameleons (3-6) have officially been eliminated from semifinal contention. However, they are aiming to finish the conference strongly with two games remaining.

Next up for Nxled are the Capital1 Solar Spikers next Tuesday, April 23, at the same venue at 4 p.m.
