Faith Nisperos became the spark plug that the Akari Chargers needed in the third set to secure her team’s third win in the PVL 2024 All-Filipino Conference last Saturday.
With the Chargers looking to finish the job against Galeries Tower in the deciding set, Nisperos checked in midway through and immediately made an impact to help Akari return to the win column.
“Every hurdle, we always have to look at it as a challenge for you to improve and not for you to get down. Ayun ang motivation ko today, it’s a challenge for me to improve and I’m grateful na ganun yung situation ko right now,” Nisperos said.
Aiming to finally find her rhythm in the tournament, the 24-year-old Nisperos did not mind coming off the bench to contribute.
“I didn’t start which is our coaches’ decision and it’s something that I can’t control, but what I can control is what I can do pagdating ko sa loob ng court,” said Nisperos, who subbed in for Erika Raagas midway through the third set.
The 5’11 outside hitter, who had only scored one point against PLDT, seized the opportunity and contributed significantly by scoring four points, including three attacks and one block, in the crucial victory over the Highrisers.
“Ang motivation ko is basta every time na I’ll be inside, I’ll contribute to the best of my abilities and magkamali ‘man, it’s okay, it’s part of the game, tuloy lang,” she added.
Although Nisperos was assigned a different role, she was glad to overcome the challenge.
“I’m glad na syempre it’s another test of character if you’re coming from the bench. I’m actually happy with today’s performance. Na-overcome ko yun,” she said.
In her young career, Nisperos is ready to face more obstacles that may come her way.
“I’m young, maraming roadblocks ahead, maraming challenges, and I’m glad na nakikita ko how I respond to every situation.”
