PASAY CITY — The Adamson University Lady Falcons fell to the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in four sets, 19-25, 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena, Wednesday night.
Team captain Lucille Almonte, May Ann Nuique, Ishie Lalongisip scored 11 points apiece but those were not enough to get their third win.
On the Katipunan side, Sophia Buena and Lyann De Guzman erupted for 22 markers each, while AC Miner and Geezel Tsunashima combined for 24 points.
Down two sets to none, Lalongisip spearheaded a comeback midway through the third set as the Lady Falcons erased an eight-point deficit to force a fourth set.
Adamson kept in step with Ateneo until the last stretch of the fourth with the latter leading 22-21.
However, Buena took matters into her own hands, scoring the last three points of the match to secure the victory for the Blue Eagles.
Adamson dropped to a 2-4 record and will try to close out the first round strong against the league-leading UST Golden Tigresses on March 16, Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, 4pm.
