The Adamson University Baby Falcons got solid contribution from their bench yesterday in their sweep of the De La Salle Zobel Junior Lady Spikers in the second round of the UAAP Season 86 girls’ volleyball tournament.

After the starters steamrolled in the first set, head coach JP Yude gradually sent in his second unit who then seized the opportunity and finished the job in the last two sets.

With their impressive performance, it’s safe to say that Yude was pleased.

“I’m very happy kasi yung mga bench [players] nag-contribute din sila sa game kanina,” Yude marveled.

Getting playing time was a huge confidence booster for the bench according to the Negrense mentor.

“They learned and gained experience. At the same time, in case na hindi naman natin alam kung anong mangyayari in the few games, at least ngayon nakakabuild sila ng confidence so pag anytime pwede sila ipasok, makaka-contribute sila sa team.”

The solid contribution from the second stringers also allowed Yude to rest his starters with the team only having one day to prepare for their game against the vengeful National University Nazareth School Lady Bullpups tomorrow.

“Tinitignan ko rin kung ano yung score, para makaexperience sila and para yung first six makapagpahinga rin because may isang training day lang kami in preparation for NU on Saturday’s game,” Yude said.

Asked about the team’s preparation heading to tomorrow’s match, Yude emphasized on his team’s reception and eagerness to win.

“Siguro kailangan maging mas maging agresibo kami and mas willing talagang manalo kasi yun din yung nangyari nung first round eh, tsaka kailangan din naming paghandaan yung service and receive talaga kasi dun nila kami tinira sa weaknesses namin nun.”
