After a first-round sweep, the Adamson University Baby Falcons began the new year on a positive note by defeating the University of Santo Tomas Junior Tigresses in straight sets in the second round of the UAAP Season 86 girls’ volleyball tournament last Saturday.

With the win, the Baby Falcons continued to spread their wings as they now hold a 7-0 win-loss record, maintaining their position at the top of the standings.

Despite their unbeaten run, Adamson head coach JP Yude does not want his team to become complacent.

“7-0, but we don’t stop. Kailangan tuloy-tuloy pa rin kung ano yung mga lapses sa game na ‘to, dapat trabahuhin pa ulit,” coach Yude said.

After the long holiday break, Yude was pleased to see Adamson maintain their sharpness and dominate UST from start to finish. In the eyes of the Negrense mentor, however, the San Marcelino-based squad is still far from perfect.

“There are so many lapses pa eh. Hindi pa naman perfect kahit ganun yung performance ng mga bata, pero it’s a very good thing na we started the second round with a win and we thank the Lord for it.”

This week, the Baby Falcons have their hands full as they take on the De La Salle Zobel Junior Lady Spikers on Thursday and the vengeful defending champions, National University Nazareth School Lady Bullpups, on Saturday.

“We’ll continue to prepare kasi next week La Salle and NU yung kalaban so medyo matindi-tindi yung preparations namin lalo na kasi yung NU, alam mo naman [defending champs],” he said.
