PASIG CITY — The Akari Chargers clobbered the Galeries Tower Highrisers in straight sets, 25-14, 25-21, 25-19, in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena, Thursday.

Fifi Sharma and Faith Nisperos posted 12 points apiece to lead the Chargers to their second straight win, while Dindin Manabat and Erika Raagas chipped in nine points each. Nisperos and Raagas also had a solid outing on defense with the former tallying nine excellent digs and the latter garnering 10 excellent receptions.

For Galeries Tower, Andrea Marzan and Ysa Jimenez each had 11 markers, while Grazielle Bombita and Rapril Aguilar contributed nine and six points respectively.

The Chargers picked up from where they left off last Saturday and had a wire-to-wire victory in the first set.

In the second frame, Galeries Tower went on a chess match with Akari midway through the set, but the Chargers pulled away from the Highrisers late to go up two sets to none.

Akari did not look back from there as they pounced on Galeries Tower in the third set to secure their win.

With the win, the Chargers improved to 5-4 and are still in contention for a semifinals seat.

Nxled falters to Creamline in three sets

In the second match of the triple-header, the Nxled Chameleons lost to the mighty Creamline Cool Smashers in straight sets, 23-25, 16-25, 21-25.

Jhoana Maraguinot led the way for Nxled with 14 points and 12 excellent receptions. Moreover, Chiara Permentilla chalked up eights points, while Camille Victoria and Lycha Ebon added four markers apiece.

After putting on a gallant stand in the first set loss, the Chameleons lost composure in the second and found themselves staring at an 0-2 hole.

Nxled, then, woke up and again put up a fight in the third set before running out of gas in the last stretch to fall in three sets.

Jema Galanza was hailed as the Best Player of the Game with 14 points in nine attacks, one block, and four aces. She also had nine excellent receptions and eight excellent digs.
