Akari charges to second straight win, frustrates Farm Fresh in four sets

ANTIPOLO — The Akari Chargers overcame a first-set fiasco to finish off the Farm Fresh Foxies in four sets, 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21, and clinched their second consecutive victory in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center, Thursday.

Akari earned its first back-to-back wins in franchise history.

After getting stunned in the first set, the Chargers survived a nail-biting second set to level the match at one set apiece.

Akari leaned on momentum to dominate Farm Fresh in the third frame as the former never looked back and staved off the latter’s late run to secure the win.

Dindin Manabat led the scoring for the third straight match with 22 points in 19 attacks and three aces, while Faith Nisperos backed her up with 15 markers.

Rookie Fifi Sharma tallied 14 points to get the Best Player of the Game honors.

The Chargers, now at solo third place with a 3-1 record, also got contributions from Erika Raagas off the bench as she added 13 points including four blocks.

On the Foxies’ side, Trisha Tubu posted a career high of 24 points composed of 18 attacks, four blocks, and two service aces.

Kate Santiago and Rizza Cruz chipped in 15 and 11 markers respectively, while setter Louie Romero dished out 20 excellent sets.

Akari will next collide with the Cignal HD Spikers at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on October 31, 6PM.
