The Akari Chargers succumbed to the PLDT High Speed Hitters in three sets, 16-25, 16-25, 23-25, in the PVL All-Filipino Conference 2023 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, Thursday.

Faith Nisperos and Dindin Manabat led the scoring for the Chargers with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Chargers kept in step with the High Speed Hitters in the opening set before PLDT unleashed a 15-4 tun to take the first.

Reception continued to haunt Akari in the second frame as PLDT leaned on its veterans to take a comfortable two-set advantage.

In the third canto, the Chargers brought out some fight as they pushed the High Speed Hitters to the brink of losing the set.

However, PLDT again capitalized on Akari’s poor reception to end the match in straight sets.

Eli Soyud, who provided the spark the Chargers needed in the third set, added seven points. Morever, Fifi Sharma had a subpar performance with five markers, a far cry from her solid output in their debut game.

Liberos Bang Pineda and Justine Jazareno had eight and five excellent digs separately.

On the other hand, Savannah Davison connected with 19 points and seven excellent digs.

Three other High Speed Hitters entered the double-digit scoring zone with Dell Palomata, Erika Santos, and Royse Tubino tallying 13, 12, and 11 points apiece.

Akari now holds a 1-1 (win-loss) slate and will try to get back to the win column as it faces Chery Tiggo on October 24, Tuesday, 7pm at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
