Nxled names Japanese Coach Takayuki Minowa as Head Coach

The Nxled Chameleons completed its evolution with the signing of Japanese Coach Takayuki Minowa.

Minowa, a Japan Sport Association Volleyball Coach Level 4, is tasked to call the shots for the latest expansion team in the PVL.

The husband of former Philippine Women’s Volleyball Team star Jaja Santiago is the final piece to the Nxled coaching staff composed of Rhenze Hu, Benok Villegas, and Vilet Ponce De Leon.

He will inject his expertise to the young Chameleons who are looking to have a rousing debut in the pro league.

The prominent coach was a part of V.LEAGUE Division 1 team Saitama Aego Medics’ coaching staff as an assistant coach for seven years. He joined the team in 2016 before getting elevated to first assistant in 2019.

In his tenure with the Aego Medics, he helped the club secure two bronzes, one silver, and a V Cup gold in the Japan league.

Minowa was then appointed as assistant coach of the Japan Women’s National Volleyball Team that ruled the 2022 Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup.

Following a successful stint with the Hinotori Nippon, the 32-year-old mentor assumed the role of first assistant coach for the Liaoning Women’s Volleyball Team, which finished third place in the 2023 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship last May.

The arrival of the decorated coach will definitely level up the skills of the Chameleons as he brings in a Japanese system that is proven advantageous in the volleyball world, so don’t be surprised if they take the top teams to the edge this upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference.
