Middle blocker Krich Macaslang was one of the bright spots in Akari’s loss to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last night.

Macaslang might not have ramped up explosive numbers for the Chargers, but her energy from the bench served as a boost to Akari’s morale especially when they were down after sets one and three.

“Well I wasn’t starting so I thought I wanna contribute kung anuman yung me being on the outside, anuman yung kaya kong ibigay sa mga teammates ko na nasa loob and first thing that popped into mind was really motivational words to pumping them up and give energy as much as I can,” Macaslang said.

For the record, the former Lady Falcon still chipped in six points, with four of those were from blocks on Chery Tiggo’s hard-hitters Eya Laure, Princess Robles, and Mylene Paat. Her energy for every point stood out inside the court — celebrating, running around, giving out high fives — and that passion all stemmed from the first game loss.

“Siguro for me the biggest motivation was the loss in the first game wherein I played for two sets. So nung pinasok ako this game parang I had this feeling in me na I wanna finish strong, gusto kong ibawi yung team,” she said.

Gaining momentum after the Set 4 victory, the 6-foot middle blocker rued the chance of finally getting their first win, but at the end of the day, she was proud of how the Chargers displayed a better performance against the Crossovers.

“I really thought we had it. It was there eh,” Macaslang said with a grin, “Nakita naman siguro ng lahat na kaya namin makipagsabayan. Sadyang it’s volleyball. May mananalo, may matatalo talaga. We showed a much better game than the first match,” Macaslang said.

Since flying away from the Lady Falcons’ nest last year, the middle blocker out of Adamson University has developed well in Chargers’ ground — and her performance after just one conference (2022 Reinforced) and offseason showed growth.

“Siguro for the past two conferences, there was this mindset na I’m new to the PVL, fresh out of college. Ngayon kasi hindi na eh. I can’t use that as an excuse anymore, so this is me trying to step up being a leader. You can be a leader in so many ways so yun yung naging spark sakin.”
