PASIG — It was Prisilla Rivera who top scored for Akari against Chery Tiggo, but Janine Marciano proved she can be the Robin to Rivera’s Batman for the Chargers.
While the Dominican Republic reinforcement fired a game-high 30 points in the five-set loss to the Crossovers, Marciano more than carried the cudgels for the locals with a performance we can call inspiring to say the least.
The 5-foot-5 outside hitter from Quezon City showed aggression and precision against Chery Tiggo, finishing with 24 points — the best output from an Akari local in the PVL and Marciano’s highest scoring total in years.
Almost five years from an ACL tear that nearly cost her her career, Marciano was in full bloom once more.
