SANTA ROSA — Erika Raagas sure knows how to set an explosion.
The fiery rookie immediately made her presence felt right in her professional debut after firing 16 points in Akari’s four-set loss to Cignal in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex here.
Fresh off a UAAP stint with Ateneo, Raagas showed she belongs in the big league by delivering 14 kills and two blocks — more than enough to be named the first Akari Saksakan ng Galing Player of the Game.
The 5-foot-7 opposite worked like a machine gun in trying to pierce through a tough HD Spikers’ defense led by veterans Roselyn Doria, Ces Molina, and Rachel Anne Daquis.
And although the Chargers were unable to pull off the upset, Raagas’ contributions were crucial in keeping the team afloat during the times when they were experiencing offensive droughts.
