ADAMSON inched closer to securing its first Final Four appearance in three years, while eliminating the University of the Philippines in the process with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 victory on Wednesday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Arena.

Shai Nitura was on point with 26 points on 23-of-42 kills and three blocks that went along with six digs and six receptions. She put up a spiking clinic in the second and third sets, dropping nine and 10 points, respectively.

The win was the Lady Falcons’ eighth in 13 matches, as the San Marcelino-based squad’s quest to return to the Final Four for the first time since 2023 is now within reach.

“We stuck lang talaga sa pinagtrainingan namin during the preparation namin. We always tell the players na magstay always on focus and locked in kasi anything can happen,” said coach JP Yude.

Adamson hopes to get the job done against Far Eastern University on Saturday at the same España venue.

The Fighting Maroons, with a 5-8 record, are eliminated from Final Four contention for an eighth straight season.

Fhei Sagaysay was solid anew with 21 excellent sets and four points, and matched Nitura’s three blocks. Joy Aseo chipped in 10 points, built around four service aces.

“We’re focused talaga sa sarili namin, ‘yung gagawin ng team on how we win, how we’re gonna respond sa challenges na ihaharap sa amin. We focus on ourselves na magrespond well at manalo,” said Nitura.
