BVS leads Chameleons to 2nd win

NXLED tallied 23 blocks in a thrilling 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12 victory over Farm Fresh to gain a piece of the lead in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Playtime Filoil Centre on Saturday.

Brooke Van Sickle, who led the Chameleons with 20 points, including six blocks, and 16 digs in the two-hour, 19-minute encounter, was simply relieved with the outcome.

“I’m very tired,” Van Sickle said moments after the hard-fought win.

After gathering herself, Van Sickle expressed pride in her team’s determination to hold on despite the Foxies’ spirited fightback.
“We have become predictable and really glad and happy for the team for digging big,” Van Sickle said.

Nxled joined Choco Mucho on top of the standings at 2-0.

Van Sickle also credited the Foxies for adjusting well after falling behind by two sets and forcing a decider.

“We really have to give it to Farm Fresh. They made good adjustments as the game went on,” she added.

Jackie Acuña was a force in the middle for the Chameleons with a match-best seven blocks, one more than the Foxies’ total output. The former Cignal standout eventually finished with 12 points.

Myla Pablo was also solid with 17 points, MJ Phillips chipped in 11 points, while Jonah Escamillan contributed nine points and 19 receptions.
Nxled will next play Galeries Tower at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
