The Nxled Chameleons’ PVL On Tour campaign ended in the quarterfinals, losing to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in three sets, 17-25, 15-25, 20-15, at the PhilSports Arena last Saturday.

EJ Carino carried Nxled’s scoring load with 13 points built from 10 attacks, two aces, and one block. Jovelyn Fernandez contributed 10 points composed of eight attacks and two blocks in a losing effort.

The Crossovers took command early, crafting a 15-9 edge in attacks and a 4-0 lead in blocks to pocket the opening set. They stayed in control in the second, highlighted by a grueling rally that Jasmine Nabor punctuated with a well-placed spike.

In the third, Chery Tiggo raced to a 5-1 start capped by Renee Penafiel’s cross-court attack and widened the gap to 13-5. While Lyann De Guzman and Cariño tried to keep Nxled’s playoff hopes alive, the Crossovers’ firepower proved too much. Penafiel delivered back-to-back hits to reach match point before Mary Rhose Dapol’s off-the-block hit sealed the sweep.

Nxled’s dream run might have ended early, but Coach Ettore and his team showed improvement and glimpses of the grit needed to contend in future conferences.
