Brooklyn Sanchez exploded for 31 points to power St. Paul College of Pasig (SPCP) back into the win column in the Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational, edging out Tripple B, 48-44, on Wednesday at the 3rd Fitness Lab.
Coming off a narrow defeat to the Akari Baby Chargers the day before, SPCP regrouped and leaned on Sanchez’s offensive brilliance to notch their second win of the tournament.
Up by six entering the final period, Sanchez and Zoe Fernandez sparked an 11-2 run that stretched St. Paul’s lead to 44-29 with 7:12 left on the clock.
Tripple B answered with a 10-0 run of their own, slashing the gap to 49-44, but Sanchez responded with consecutive layups to give SPCP a more comfortable nine-point cushion with 1:42 remaining.
Tripple B tried to mount a final push, capped by a Francesca Gozum putback, but the clock ran out on their rally.
Tyler Templo once again delivered for the blue shirts, finishing with 18 points and nine rebounds, though it wasn’t enough to avoid their second loss in three games.
