After nine years with the Foton and Chery Tiggo franchise, EJ Laure felt it was time to explore new opportunities.
The Nxled Chameleons announced the signing of Ennajie Laure earlier today, adding a power spiker to their roster.
“Gusto ko lumabas ng comfort zone ko, meron pa rin naman akong [naging] teammates dito [before], pero iba kasi ‘yung system and actually hindi kasi ako familiar sa iba kong teammates kaya gusto silang makilala pa nang lubusan,” Laure told Akari Sports.
More than just building chemistry with her new teammates, the 27-year-old outside hitter revealed that learning from Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti led to her signing with Nxled.
“And since bago yung coach namin, gusto ko yung system ni Coach Ettore na ginagawa niya ngayon sa Nxled,” she added.
Laure, a 2016 PSL Grand Prix champion and the 2017 1st Best Open Hitter with the Foton Tornadoes, is thrilled to make her Premier Volleyball League return, now in green.
“Siyempre super happy and super excited ako na makakalaro na ako this season kasama ‘yung mga [bagong] teammates ko,” the former UST standout said.
Now on a fresh start, the 5’9 outside hitter vowed to give her all for the Chameleons, who currently hold a 0-2 record to start the PVL 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.
“Gagawin ko ang lahat, gagawin ko yung 101% ko every game and nakasupport naman ako sa mga teammates ko, bnibigyan ko sila ng feedback ganon.”
With Laure on board, the Chameleons now have an additional scoring option alongside team captain Chiara Permentilla, May Luna, Lucille Almonte, and opposite hitter Lycha Ebon.
It remains uncertain whether Laure will debut for the Nxled Chameleons game against her former team, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, at 6:30 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena.
