Nxled Chameleons’ head coach, Takayuki Minowa, had high praise for Ivy Lacsina after her first conference with the team.
Despite a slow start caused by a knee injury, Lacsina found her rhythm as the games progressed and ended the conference on a high note by scoring a career-high 28 points against Petro Gazz.
The 6’1 outside hitter garnered a total of 152 points, ranking sixth in scoring, eighth in spiking, and ninth in serving after the eliminations — these accomplishments certainly impressed Minowa.
“Actually she have a lot of potential and she can be one of the best players here in the Philippines,” Minowa lauded.
As spectacular as she has been locally, Minowa knows that Lacsina still has a long way to go before she can compete overseas.
“I cannot say in Asia [yet], because the national team is not complete so for now she can be top player in the Philippines first and hopefully she can play abroad because also, I think she wants to play abroad. But before [that], she needs to improve more,” he added.
For Lacsina to make that leap, Minowa challenges her 24-year-old top scorer to consistently dominate in the PVL.
“Sometimes, she’s not consistent. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad. I understand because she’s a young player, but hopefully she can understand how many she have a potential,” said Minowa.
The former Lady Bulldog already has a complete arsenal, but Minowa wants Lacsina to realize her potential to reach the next level.
“She can do anything — pass, dig, attack, block, serve. I hope she trusts her potential.”
