The Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons lost to the defending champions De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers in four sets, 25-17, 19-25, 11-25, 22-25, in the second round of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Adamson performed better in its second encounter with La Salle, stealing one set away from the reigning champs.
Jen Villegas dropped 16 points in 13 attacks, two blocks, and one ace. Barbie Jamili contributed 11 points, while Ayesha Juegos added 10 points for the Lady Falcons.
Adamson libero Karen Verdeflor once again proved that she’s one of the best players in her position as she tallied 22 excellent receptions and 21 excellent digs.
On the hand, Shevana Laput had her fourth straight 20-point game this season with 24 points. Thea Gagate chipped in 12 points including three blocks, while Alleiah Malaluan and Amie Provido posted eight points each.
Team captain and setter Julia Coronel fanned out 19 excellent sets for DLSU.
The Lady Falcons slid down to a 3-9 record and will next face the National University Lady Bulldogs at the PhilSports Arena at 4 p.m.
