It was colorful debut for one of the newest teams in Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The Nxled Chameleons dominated the Gerflor Defenders in three sets, 25-18, 25-14, 25-19, as they announced their entry to the PVL earlier at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lycha Ebon looked like she did not miss a beat, getting the nod for the Best Player of the Game honors with 14 points composed of 12 attacks and two blocks. Jhoana Maraguinot added 11 points coming from nine attacks and two rejections, while Krich Macaslang and May Luna posted seven markers apiece.

The Chameleons showed their dominance early in the match after establishing a commanding 18-8 advantage in the first set. The Defenders regrouped and cut the deficit to five, but the former staved off the latter’s run to take the opening frame.

Nxled once again leaned on a huge 10-point lead in the second set on their way to a two-set lead before eventually overpowering the opponents in the third to secure the win.

It was an all-around team effort for the Chameleons as the bench pieces also chipped in when inserted by head coach Taka Minowa in the second and third sets.

Comebacking outside hitter Judith Abil made noise in her return to the PVL with six points and seven excellent digs. Cams Victoria had five points, while Kamille Cal, Janine Navarro, and Lia Pelaga tallied two markers each.

On the flip side, Jenny Gaviola led the way for the Defenders with nine points. while Danika Gendrauli chalked up seven markers. Bien Juanillo and Shyra Umandal contributed five points each.

The Nxled Chameleons will next face the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on October 24, 3PM at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
