Lady Falcons succumb to vengeful Lady Spikers, head to winner-take-all Game 3

The Adamson University Lady Falcons suffered a straight-sets defeat at the hands of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, 22-25, 12-25, 18-25, in Game 2 of the Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, Saturday.

Opposite hitter Ayesha Juegos was the lone Lady Falcon to barge into double figures in scoring with 12 points off of 10 attacks and two aces.

Red Bascon added nine attack points, while Lucille Almonte was limited to six markers.

In the first set, the Lady Falcons looked like they didn’t lose steam after their Game 1 win. They went back and forth with the Lady Spikers and even took the lead, 23-21, before being put on a dry spell at the end.

La Salle leaned momentum from its first set victory and dominated Adamson in the second set.

The San Marcelino-based crew tried to mount another comeback to start the third frame, but the spikers from Taft was just in their championship form and pulled away midway through on their way to a sweep.

Shevana Laput led DLSU with 18 points, all from attacks, while Jyne Soreño and Thea Gagata chipped in 13 and 9 markers respectively.

Adamson still has another crack at the title tomorrow in the rubber match Game 3 still at the the same venue, 4pm.
