La Salle seeks to arrange a Final showdown with five-peat seeking Far Eastern University Friday in the UAAP women’s football Final Four.
Holding twice-to-beat advantages for finishing 1-2 in the table at end of the double-round eliminations, the Lady Tamaraws and the Lady Booters need to win once to meet in the championship round for the sixth straight season.
Second-ranked La Salle plays No. 3 University of the Philippines at 7 p.m., while FEU, the elims topnotcher, faces No. 4 Ateneo at 4:30 p.m., in the women’s football first-ever Final Four at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
La Salle, which last ruled the league in 2019, will enter the Final Four brimming with a lot of confidence. The Lady Booters are coming off a 1-0 victory over the Lady Tamaraws on October 28, a result that snapped the Morayta-based program’s remarkable 38-match unbeaten streak.
“Again, after this game, we will focus again on our recovery,” said coach Joyce Landagan after the win over FEU. “Then after that, we will review and learn kung ano ulit ang gagawin namin against UP, as they are a tough and good team also.”
Unlike La Salle, third-placed UP had a disappointing end to its elimination-round campaign after falling 0-2 to fifth-placed University of Santo Tomas.
Victories by the Lady Tamaraws and the Lady Booters will set the one-off Final on Friday next week at the same Manila venue.
