Defending champion Adamson topped the V-League Collegiate Challenge preliminaries with a 6-1 after sweeping San Beda, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19 on Sunday at the Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.
Nigerian Frances Mordi soared with a match-high 17 points and seven receptions, Joy Aseo added 13 points and nine receptions, while Third Tuddao finished with nine points and seven digs for the Lady Falcons.
Adamson will play No. 4 University of the East in the best-of-three semifinals starting on Wednesday.
The Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Warriors, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16, in the prelims.
“How to adjust pa rin every game; aral pa rin kung sino ‘yung makakalaban. And papaano kami mag-re-respond sa game,” said assistant coach Wayne Marco, who took over from head coach JP Yude for the preliminary round finale.
Despite securing the top ranking, Marco and the rest of the coaching staff want the squad to stay in the moment in the semifinals as they seek a chance at back-to-back titles.
“Gusto naming ma-overcome nila ‘yung pag-commit ng error after an error. And yung mentality, kasi minsan sumosobra naman yung kumpiyansa, nagla-lie low. Gusto namin ma-keep yung pacing namin hanggang matapos ‘yung game,” Marco said.
