AKARI opened its Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference campaign with a 17-25, 23-25, 20-25 loss to Choco Mucho on Saturday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.

The second set saw the Chargers lose a 17-11 advantage, with the Flying Titans scoring 10 of the set’s last 12 points to seize control.

After allowing Choco Mucho to score the third set’s first five points, Akari stormed back and took an 11-9 advantage.

It was short lived, however, as the Flying Titans netted five straight points to regain the upper hand at 14-11 and fended off the Chargers’ plans to turn things around to complete the straight-sets win.

Akari will try regroup and focus on bouncing back when it clashes with ZUS Coffee on February 12, also at the San Juan arena.

Fifi Sharma led the Chargers with 10 points on 7-of-17 kills, two service aces and a block while Ced Domingo also had seven kills that went along with an ace and a block to finish with nine points. Ivy Lacsina had six points, six receptions and five digs while Mars Alba tossed in 12 excellent sets and scored two points.
Judith Abil, one of Akari’s signees during the conference break, collected seven digs and eight receptions in a libero role.

Sisi Rondina and Eya Laure, reunited in Choco Mucho, combined for 27 points.
