AKARI opens its Premier Volleyball League journey against Choco Mucho on Saturday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.
The first serve is set at 6:30 p.m. in an expected to be another hard-fought encounter between two squads determined to begin the New Year on a high note.
Coming off a bronze medal finish in the Reinforced Conference, the Chargers parade a largely intact roster led by libero-captain Justine Jazareno, Ivy Lacsina, Grethcel Soltones, Chenie Tagaod, Ced Domingo, Fifi Sharma, Eli Soyud, and Mars Alba.
Ezra Madrigal, Cam Victoria and Erika Raagas may have been gone, Akari was able to fill in the gaps by signing Cza Carandang, Jyne Soreño, Judith Abil and Mary Rhose Dapol, all ready to contribute when called upon.
Completing the line-up are Dani Ravena, Max Juangco, Steph Bustrillo, Kamille Cal, Bea Bonafe, Faith Nisperos, Joan Doguna, and Jam Villena.
In her second conference with the Chargers, coach Tina Salak knows that her team can stand a chance against the league’s finest starting with the Flying Titans, who were able to secure Eya Laure during the break and Sisi Rondina back after a successful Alas beach volleyball stint.
