The Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons were dealt their second consecutive defeat by the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws in four sets, 25-23, 15-25, 13-25, 10-25, in the first round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena last Saturday.

With all the momentum going to the opposite side of the court in the fourth set, Adamson looked to extend the match; however, FEU had other plans. It established an early 13-4 deficit and kept its foot on the gas pedal to secure its third straight victory.

This came after the Lady Falcons failed to regain their rhythm after lopsided losses in the second and third frames where the Lady Tamaraws turned things around with their defense, minimizing the former’s chances to attack.

Adamson could not build on momentum after a strong start, securing a tight opening-set victory.

Shaina Nitura continued to lead the way for the Lady Falcons as she tallied 24 points and 13 excellent receptions. Frances Mordi had a triple-double performance of 12 points, 11 excellent digs, and 17 excellent receptions, while Fhei Sagaysay fanned out 13 excellent sets.

On the other hand, Gerz Petallo spearheaded the Lady Tams’ attack with 16 points and 15 excellent receptions, while Jean Asis and Faida Bakanke added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Adamson will look to snap its losing streak against the league-leading National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 12 still at the MOA Arena at 1pm.
