The Adamson University Lady Falcons lost to the De La Salle Lady Spikers in straight sets, 16-25, 16-25, 18-25, to open their UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball campaign at MOA Arena, Saturday.
The Lady Falcons had a poor performance on offense as team captain Lucille Almonte and Ishie Lalongisip led the scoring with only six points apiece.
On the flip side, reigning Rookie of the Year and MVP Angel Canino spearheaded the Lady Spikers’ attack with 14 points in 11 attacks and three aces. Sophomore Shevana Laput added 11 points composed of eight attacks and three aces for the defending champions.
Adamson couldn’t penetrate La Salle’s wall throughout the game with the Lady Falcons tallying just two blocks against the Lady Spikers’ 10.
AdU’s libero, Karen Verdaflor, however, shined for the San Marcelino-based squad with 21 excellent receptions and 12 excellent digs.
Adamson aims to bounce back against the UP Lady Maroons on February 24, 2pm still at the same venue.
