The Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons repeated their sweep of the University of the East (UE) Lady Falcons, 25-20, 25-11, 25-21, to start the second round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday.

Adamson arrested their four-game skid to improve to a 3-5 win-loss record despite the absence of Frances Mordi who is currently nursing an ankle injury she incurred during a tune-up match.

Rookie setter Fhei Sagaysay orchestrated a balanced Lady Falcons’ offense with 14 excellent sets and two points. Shaina Nitura led the scoring with 18 points, while Mayang Nuique and Barbie Jamili chipped in 11 and nine points, respectively.

Leading by just a point in third set, 20-19, AdU stepped on the gas and took a 5-2 run to win the match.

This came after a dominant second frame and a tight victory in the opening set.

The Lady Falcons aim for their second consecutive win against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, March 29 at the Araneta Coliseum at 1pm.
