‘Chargers will fight for every point,’ says De Brito

He has been through a lot of battles throughout his storied career, but for coach Jorge De Brito, one thing is important for his players as Akari makes its debut in the Premier Volleyball League — that is to enjoy the chance to be in the professional ranks.

“I’m sure we will enjoy this opportunity to play in a pro league,” De Brito said ahead of the Chargers’ first game against Cignal in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

Akari, the league’s only newcomer, will lock horns with a team that has been on a rampage this year.

And while they will definitely be considered underdogs, De Brito believes his wards will not cower in fear against the likes of Ces Molina, Rachel Anne Daquis, and Cignal’s ‘Great Wall’ in Riri Meneses and Roselyn Doria.

“I hope we can perform good as we’ve been training for one of the toughest teams in the league,” he added.

De Brito admitted that the Chargers are still a work in progress, saying they are “in different levels.”

But if he can promise one thing fans should expect come game time, it is the fact that the ladies in magenta will hustle for every ball.

“Our Akari Chargers will fight for every point,” he stressed.
