ADAMSON’s Meagan Pineda and Ella Gonzalvo rallied from five points down in the third set before yielding to University of Santo Tomas’ Cheng Dadang and Angelica del Mar, pulled off a thrilling 22-24, 21-12, 13-15 win in the UAAP high school girls beach volleyball Finals at Sands SM By The Bay on Sunday.
It was the best finish still for the Baby Falcons, who also placed second to the Tiger Sands when high school beach volleyball was a demonstration sport in 2023.
Adamson rallied from a 1-6 hole to level at 11-11 before Dadang and Del Mar banked on their experience with their heady plays at crunchtime to give UST its second title since the event became officially part of the calendar in 2024.
The Baby Falcons tallied a 7-2 record, with all losses to the Tiger Sands going the distance.
Adamson unseated National University Nazareth School in the Final Four, as Pineda and Gonzalvo repeated over Faith Mangyao and Julia Candelario, 21-12, 21-14.
Mangyao and Candelario salvaged third place after turning back Far Eastern University-Diliman’s Franz Premaylon and Alexa Amana, 21-18, 21-14.
