The Adamson University Lady Baby Falcons saw their UAAP Season 88 girls’ volleyball campaign come to a heartbreaking end after another five-set collapse, falling to the Far Eastern University–Diliman Lady Baby Tamaraws, 25-14, 25-22, 18-25, 25-27, 6-15, in their do-or-die semifinal duel yesterday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Playing through a fever, Ella Gonzalvo still emerged as Adamson’s top scorer with 15 points built on 13 attacks, a block, and an ace. Kristal Martin and Francheska Adem delivered 14 points apiece in the tough defeat, while team captain Maegan Pineda anchored the floor defense with 14 excellent receptions and 12 excellent digs.
Adamson came out firing, cruising through the opening set before squeezing out a gritty win in the second to take a commanding 2–0 lead.
But the Baby Tamaraws refused to fold. A late surge in the third set sparked their comeback, shifting the momentum firmly to FEU-Diliman’s side as they stormed back to force a decider—and eventually ran away with the fifth set.
FEU’s MJ Udeagbala was unstoppable all afternoon, erupting for 33 points off 27 attacks, five blocks, and an ace. Team captain Cathlyn Umal added 13 markers to help fuel the comeback.
