The Adamson University Lady Falcons stayed unbeaten after fending off the University of Santo Tomas Junior Tigresses in four sets, 25-18, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19, in the UAAP girls’ volleyball tournament on November 2 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

The victory marked the Lady Falcons’ eighth straight win in as many outings and their first assignment of the second round. Adamson also defeated UST in their first-round encounter, which went the distance in five sets.

Francheska Adem spearheaded the Lady Falcons with 18 points built on 14 attacks, three blocks, and one ace, while also recording seven digs. Ella Gonzalvo delivered 15 points, all coming from attacks. Seanne Aleizys Ordonio added 11 points off six attacks, four blocks, and one ace in another steady outing for Adamson.

The Lady Falcons dictated the tempo early, cruising through the first two sets with sharp floor defense and efficient hitting. UST, however, clawed back from a 10-17 deficit in the third frame to steal it, 26-24, before Adamson regained control in the fourth set to finish the match.

Elaine Faye Garces played a key role in setting up Adamson’s offense, recording 22 excellent sets and three aces that kept the team’s attack flowing smoothly.

Andreaj Tan Chun Bing, Ysabel Sotto, and Ryzel Laag led UST with seven points apiece, while Taj Teves chipped in six. Despite a spirited stand in the third set, the Tigresses fell short against Adamson’s depth and composure.

With the win, Adamson improved to 8–0 to open the second round on a high note, while UST slipped to a 5–3 record. The Lady Falcons will aim to extend their streak against the De La Salle-Zobel Junior Lady Spikers on November 4, Tuesday, 1pm at the Paco Arena.
