The Nxled Chameleons closed their first preliminary round campaign in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference with a straight-sets defeat to PLDT, 22-25, 21-25, 20-25, on Friday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
The Chameleons kept pace with the High Speed Hitters through much of the match but struggled to sustain momentum in the closing stretches of each set. Import Paola Martinez once again led the scoring with 29 points off 25 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while Chiara Permentilla added seven markers.
Despite solid moments on offense, Nxled’s consistency remained an issue as unforced errors allowed PLDT to build separation late in the frames. The team also found it difficult to contain PLDT’s balanced attack, which featured strong performances from Savannah Davison and Anastasiia Bavykina.
Chiara Permentilla registered her lowest output of the conference with seven points, while Krich Macaslang, Mayang Nuique, and Lyann De Guzman added three apiece as Nxled struggled to produce enough collective offense to keep in step with PLDT’s pace.
With the loss, Nxled finished the opening round at 0-5 in Pool A and now moves to Pool C still in search of its first win. The Chameleons remain in contention for a quarterfinals berth but will need to sweep their remaining matches to keep their hopes alive.
