The NXLED Chameleons showed flashes of resilience but ultimately bowed to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in straight sets, 23-25, 19-25, 22-25, on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Despite the 0-3 start to their campaign, the Chameleons demonstrated improved chemistry and fighting spirit throughout the one-hour-and-26-minute encounter, pushing the Flying Titans to close each set under pressure.
Leading the offensive charge for NXLED was Paola Martinez, who delivered 20 points built on 18 attacks, 1 block, and 1 service ace. Martinez also contributed defensively with 9 excellent digs, showing her all-around impact on both ends of the court.
Supporting her was Lyann De Guzman, who added nine points from attacks and steady offensive contributions that helped sustain NXLED’s rallies. Chiara May Permentilla also chipped in 8 points while contributing significantly on floor defense with 13 excellent receptions.
Although NXLED fell short in net defense with only four total blocks against Choco Mucho’s 12, the team displayed solid floor coverage and a more organized defensive system, reflecting their steady progress under head coach Ettore Guidetti.
With signs of cohesion emerging, NXLED aims to regroup and convert its growing competitiveness into results.
Now holding a 0–3 record, the Chameleons will seek their first win when they face the Cignal Super Spikers on Saturday, 4:00 PM, at the Ynares Center in Montalban. The upcoming match will be another crucial test for the developing squad as they continue to build momentum in the tournament.
