AKARI CONTINUES TO LIGHT WAY FOR VOLLEYBALL WITH ‘CHALLENGE SYSTEM’ DONATION TO PNVF
In its latest move to continue supporting the growth of volleyball in all levels in the country, Akari Lighting has completed its donation of a video challenge system (VCS) to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation this week.
The challenge system is a video review of specific sequences in a game wherein a team can request to confirm, reverse, or replay rulings made by the officiating team.
The equipment arrived all the way from Italy and is already in use at the ongoing U-18 tourney under the PNVF being held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
With their strong partnership with the PNVF, the brand shall be acknowledged with every use of the video challenge system as long as the competition is under the federation’s ruling.
According to Mozzy Ravena, Team Manager of the Akari Chargers, this latest move is a strong testament to the company’s desire to raise the level of the competition in the country.
“May relationship si Akari as sponsor ng National Team sa PNVF. Kaya when they requested na may sarili silang challenge para sa mga tournaments ng federation, as always, very supportive ang brand,” Ravena told Akari Sports.
“In return, it will be called Akari Challenge in every PNVF tournament,” she added.
Aside from tournaments under the federation, the challenge system will also be used by the UAAP in its ongoing women’s and men’s volleyball competitions.
Akari, through its various programs, has been supporting volleyball in the country on all ends.
From bringing the sport closer to the kids from far-flung areas through clinics and pocket tournaments, bringing talented young guns to the city for proper training through a partnership with Adamson University, having a club team that supports the careers of volleyball athletes after their collegiate years, to a partnership with the federation that helps the National Team to keep its program going, Akari has become a name closely associated not only to lighting equipment but to sports as well.
And for Russel Balbacal, Sports Director of the brand, this dedication is deeply rooted in Akari’s desire to light the way for the future of volleyball and its players.
“Itong tulong natin na ito hindi naman na bago. We have always been one with the volleyball community in wanting the best for our beloved sport and the players,” Balbacal said.
“We hope na with this video challenge, makatulong na mailabas pa ang galing ng mga bata and at the same time, sa murang edad nila eh alam na nila ang pakiramdam ng official competitions para pag may tournaments abroad, sanay na sila,” he added.
